1. Lindsay Weaver: GPA 4.0Parents: Gary Weaver and Janet Bovee of Hale. Weaver is actively involved in many activities at school and in the community. She has played basketball and softball for four years and volleyball for two years. She served as captain of the softball team for the last two years and as captain of the basketball and volleyball team her senior year. In softball, she has been awarded the Rookie of the Year in her freshman year; MVP, the Eagle Award, and 1st Team All-Conference in her sophomore year; and MVP and 1st Team All-Conference her junior year. She was named “Most Improved” her junior year volleyball season, and this season she was awarded “Honorable Mention” by the North Star League. This year in basketball, she was awarded the Eagle Award. She has been a member of the National Honor Society since the eleventh grade, and this year she is serving as secretary. Weaver has been awarded “Student of the Month” every year of her high school career. Her junior year, she scored a one in all areas on the Michigan Merit Exam and therefore got to accompany Mrs. Lixey and three other students to the Renaissance Festival in Holly, MI. Lindsay has been an active member of her church youth group all through high school and has also volunteered in the church nursery and at the summer Vacation Bible School. During the last three years Lindsay has also been a volunteer coach for the Hale Little Eagles’ basketball program. She has served as the class secretary for all four years and has also been on Student Council for all four years, this year serving as the secretary. She enjoys playing sports, fishing, hunting, shopping, going to the movies, and spending time with her family and friends. Weaver’s future plans include attending Saginaw Valley State University to study nursing. After graduating from SVSU, she plans to go back to school to become an ultrasound technician.
2. Stacey Eno : GPA 4.0Parents: Greg and Becky Eno of Hale. Eno is dedicated to her studies and athletics. She has played Varsity Volleyball all four years of high school. During her freshmen year she received the “Most Dedicated Player” Award and during her sophomore year she received “Most Improved Player” and Honorable Mention All Conference. She was voted First Team All Conference of the North Star League her Junior Year and Second Team All Conference this year; she also received the Eagle Award the for past two years. Eno also served as Team Captain her junior and senior years. She has played varsity basketball for the past three years. Eno also has participated in varsity softball all four years and was captain the past two years. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years, Drama Club for the last four years, English Club all four years, French Club grades 9-11, and Knowledge Bowl her senior year. She served as president of the French Club during her junior year. Eno has been a part of the Student Council all four years and has served as Class Representative throughout her high school experience. She has been awarded “Student of the Month” every year of her high school career. Her community service projects have included volunteering at the American Red Cross Blood Drive at Hale High School during all four years, volunteering as a coach for the Hale Little Eagle’s Basketball Program for the past two years, and volunteering in this year’s Hale kindergarten class. Eno has also participated in Dual Enrollment through Alpena Community College this year. She has been employed at Lost Valley Campground in Lupton since May 2009. Her hobbies include: reading, riding horses, playing sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Eno’s future plans include attending Alma College to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
3. Allison Wilson: GPA 3.83Parents: Parents: Jeffrey and Susan Wilson of Hale. Allison is involved in several clubs and organizations. She has been a member of the Youth Advisory Council (Y.A.C.) for four years, and has served on student council all four years of high school. Wilson has been elected class president for all four years. With that she has helped in multiple blood drives through the American Red Cross. She participated in track, cross county, and basketball in high school. She has been an active member of the Hale United Methodist Church Youth Group (YMPACT) during all four years of high school. With that she has participated in spring break mission trips for three years. Wilson has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, and served as vice president of NHS for her senior year. She serves as the senior class representative on the Hale Area School Board. As a senior, she took part in school to work based study, were she worked at Hale United Methodist Church, and Progress Physical Therapy. She also has been involved in the Drama Club for three years and the English Club for one year. She performed in the Iosco County Teen Musical “All Shook Up”. Her hobbies include shopping, watching movies, spending time with friends, and family, and youth group. Wilson’s future plans include attending Eastern Michigan University to study Occupational therapy.
4. Vanessa Green GPA 3.73Parents: Dave and Cindi Green of Hale. She has been a member of the French Club and English Club all four years. She participated in choir in ninth through eleventh grades. Green is a hard worker and has been on the honor roll and received an academic letter all four years. She enjoys playing volleyball, shopping, watching movies, going to the beach and hanging with friends and family. She has been employed at Nessy’s Marathon in Sand Lake for four years. Her future plans includes attending Mid-Michigan Community College and then transferring to a university .
5. Kelsey Reilly GPA 3.71Parents: Todd Reilly of Hale. Kelsey is involved in several athletic programs at Hale High School. She has played volleyball, basketball, and softball all four years of high school. In her freshmen year she was chosen as Rookie of the Year in Softball and also voted Second Team All Conference during her sophomore year. In basketball, she received the Best Defensive Player Award during her senior year. In volleyball she was chosen as Rookie of the Year during her freshman year, Best Defensive Player during her sophomore year and MVP her junior year. She was voted into the National Honor Society as a junior and has participated in community service projects through this program. Reilly has also been a volunteer coach for the Hale Youth Basketball Program. Reilly has taken Dual Enrollment Classes through Alpena Community College for the past two years, and will be graduating from high school with twenty four college credits. Her hobbies include reading, playing sports, being outside, and hanging out with family and friends. She works part-time at the Hale Hardware and is dedicated to assisting her father in providing care for her younger siblings. Reilly plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
6. Brendon O’Dell GPA 3.66 Parents: Curt and Gale O’Dell of Hale. Brendon has been very involved in athletics at Hale High School. He has played football for four years serving as the team captain this year and also received the Iron Mans Award. He has played basketball for all four years and served as the team captain this year. He has received a Scholar Athlete Award for basketball. O’Dell also was a member of the Track and Field Team for three years. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years. He has been a member of the Hale High School Choir for four years. He has participated in several community service projects through theNational Honor Society including visiting residents of local nursing homes and hosting a Valentine’s Day Party. He has also been a volunteer coach through the Hale Youth Basketball Program. O’Dell’s hobbies include archery hunting, fishing, model rocketry, adult pinewood derby, recreational sports and camping. His future plans include attending Kirtland Community College to pursue a Pharmacy Technician Certification. He then plans to transfer to a university to continue his education.
7. Corey Bates GPA: 3.58Parents: Jason Bates of East Tawas, and Michelle Vierling of Hale. Bates participated in Track and Field during his senior year and competes in discus and shot-put. He recently received a silver medal for Discus at the track meet in Posen. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years and has been involved in several community service projects with this organization. Bates currently works at Hale Creek Lanes. His hobbies include: bowling, hunting, fishing, swimming and boating. Future plans include attending Lake Superior State University and receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Ultimately he would like to move to a southern state and pursue a career as a biologist or a geologist.
8. Ashleigh Tatroe GPA: 3.54Parents: Tim and Sue Tatroe of South Branch. Ashleigh has run varsity cross country all four years of high school and has run Varsity Track and Field for three years. Ashleigh has been an active member of the band all four years of high school. She received Most Improved in cross country in her sophomore year, she was also Most Improved in Track and Field in her junior year. She received the Eagle Award in Track and Field during her sophomore year. She has been a member of the National Honor Society since eleventh grade and is serving as the treasurer this year. She also served as the treasurer of Student Council during her freshman year. Tatroe’s community service includes volunteering at the Tawas Village Senior Center, Chain Lake Spiritualist and Church Camp and the Chain Lake Association. She enjoys reading, playing sports, hanging out with friends and family and anything outdoors. Tatroe’s future plans include attending Wayne State University to study history.
Parent: Valerie Peterson of Hale. Saurer has participated in track and cross country for three years. She was a member of Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for two years, Drama Club for two years and English Club for one. She was also a member of band and choir for two years. Saurer has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, and has been the treasure of the Jr. Girls’ VFW for the past two years. She has been a member of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) for the past year and a member of the Iosco County Pride Team for three years. She has attended two National Drug Prevention Conferences through Pride. She has been on the honor roll and has received perfect attendance awards. She has earned several medals in Cross country and track and earned her varsity letter in the ninth grade. This year she was selected as the Daughter’s of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award for Hale High School. Saurer has been involved in many community service projects including: Angel Food, visiting nursing home residents, Kids Against Hunger, peer tutoring, volunteering at vacation bible school, helping out with the elementary summer school program at Hale and cleaning and painting at the Iosco County Fairgrounds. Saurer enjoys running, swimming, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with her family and friends. She is employed at Big Bob’s Restaurant and Pizzeria in Hale where she works as a dishwasher. Saurer is attending the Bay Arenac Career Center in Bay City and is studying to become a nursing assistant. Her future plans include attending Saginaw Valley State University to become a registered nurse. She plans on working as a nurse assistant while attending SVSU.
10. Matthew Provoast GPA 3.44
Parents: Lewayne and Rhonda Provoast of Whittemore. Provoast has been a member of National Honors Society for two years, and is serving as President this year. He has been involved in Student Council for four years serving as Vice President. He has been a member of choir for the past four years and performed in State Solo Ensemble Festival receiving 1 rating. Provoast has a passion for the arts and has been enrolled in every art class available at Hale High School as well as several community programs. He has been a member of the Northeast Michigan Art Council since 2005 and participated in art camps every summer since age eight. He has been a member of the Michigan 4-H Children’s China Art Exchange since 2001 when his artwork “A Peek Into the Rainforest” was chosen to be sent to the People’s Republic of China. He has earned best of show for art entries at Iosco and Ogemaw County Fair through 4-H. Provoast’s community activities include volunteering at the St. Pius X Catholic Church and Angel Food Ministries. He has also volunteered at the American Red Cross blood drives at the high school. He has taken on a project of painting a mural in the hallway of Hale High School this year. He enjoys spending his free time taking pictures and working on art work. He has his own photography business which allows him to purse his artistic passion. He likes spending time with his friends. He has enjoyed going on vacations with his friends family as a little kid and through high school. His future plans are to attend Kendall College of Arts & Design of Ferris State University and earn a bachelor’s degree.
