Welcome Back Students & Families! I hope your summer was a happy one. The students and I will have so much to catch up on as we begin our 8th Grade year. I think you'll enjoy 8th Grade Science, as its emphasis is on the Earth Sciences such as rocks/minerals, land formations, and weather. This year in 8th Grade ELA, we will follow the Core Curriculum Standards to learn about essay writing and a variety of literature genres. Grades will be posted weekly in the classroom as well as online, so there should never be a question about grades or any surprises. We are always in need of Kleenex, Clorox Bleach Wipes, and large jugs of Hand Sanitizer. All donations to our classroom will be greatly appreciated. See you this fall! Mrs. Frank |

Ask your 1st grader what a sentence consists of. Their answer should include: begins with a capital letter, ends with a period, and tells a complete idea.
This year first graders will donate much time to becoming writers. We are currently learning the dynamics of sentence writing. We've created several Big Books which the children LOVE to read during their free reading time.
And speaking of reading, did you know that on Thursday afternoons we have 4th grade AR reading buddies? Each duo reads a 1st grade AR book together and then they walk down to the computer lab to test on it. FUN!
