Local Scholarships
Applications for these scholarships can be found in the Main Office or with Mrs. Nieman the Senior Class Advisor.

American Legion: Glenn Stanley Post, No. 422
Open to anyone who plans to attend college. Leadership and organization involvement are strongly considered.
Student must have received the Eagle Scout Award. Nomination Form available in counseling offce. $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 422:
You must be the child, grandchild, or relative of any honorably discharged or deceased veteran.
Carl & Christine Huebner: Scholarship for Music/Creative Writing/Performing Arts
Eligibility restricted to graduating seniors from any school in Iosco County who plan to attend an accredited college or university and major in the field of Music, Writing, or the Performing Arts.
Fraternal Order of Eagles:
This scholarship is open to Hale High School graduates who plan to further their education. Consideration is given to applicants on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular participation, and community service.

Offering various scholarships for students in the Hale Area. There are many opportunities available to a wide variety of students. From the Rosetta Stone Scholarship for community college and trade school tracks, to memorial scholarships such as the Beatty Bernard Scholarship and Calverley Heating and Cooling memorial scholarship. Helen Laidlaw Foundation scholarships.This scholarship is open to students who will be attending an accredited institution majoring in a health care field. Nursing students are given first priority. Second priority is for students entering a Pre-Med field.Academic standing, extra curricular activities and financial need will all be taken into consideration for each applicant.These applications are also available online at

Knights of Columbus: Council 7623
This scholarship is intended for high school graduates with a 2.5 GPA or higher, who intend to further their educational growth. You must be a practicing Catholic who is a member of either St. Pius X or St. James Parish or must be a member of, or child or grandchild of a member of Council 7623 Knights of Columbus.
Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority: Pilot Training Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to recognize, encourage, and support excellence in our region's young men and women pursuing knowledge and skills for a lifetime of work or pleasure in the field of aviation.
Quota International of Iosco County
Elegible students must meet one of the following criteria. 1. Have a documented hearing impairment. 2. Have a documented speech communicative disorder. 3. Be going into a field of study in which you will be woring wtih or teaching hearing/speech impaired persons. 4. Be going into audiology/speech pathology or any of its related fields. Amount is $500.00

Sand Lake Women's Auxiliary Scholarship
All students having a 3.0 GPA or higher will be considered. The scholarship is dependent upon student's GPA, enrollment status and co-curricular as well as extra-curricular activities relating to their community. Applications available in counseling office.
Sunrise Side Republican Women's Club -$1,000
Must be female U.S. Citizen, a graduating senior from a public or private high school in Iosco or Alcona County. GPA of 2.5 or better.
$4,000 - $60,000.
V.F.W. Hale Post 7435
Any graduating senior at Hale High School or Whittemore-Prescott Area High School who plans to further their education at a University, College, or Technical School may apply.

Vietnam Veterans of America: Educational Scholarship
This scholarship is available to all seniors that will graduate from any home school, private school or public school located within the Hale area school district. Students must plan on furthering their education at a University, College, or Technical School.
